I've never met the Duke myself, but my understanding is that he has little interest in his byblow, except perhaps inasmuch as M. Bellerose conducts a correspondence with his granddaughter.

For what it's worth, M. Bellerose and I parted on amicable terms, but he and I are not currently in touch. As I said, ser, it was not a strong enough connection I would have presumed upon it, but I trust whatever he said of me was sufficient to make me seem a likely option to Lady Vauquelin.
